Description
This 780km ride takes you from coast to coast across Cape York in Far North Queensland, Australia. This is an area that few people ever get to see. With both road and mountain bike options, this ride caters for everyone. After a pre-ride briefing in Cairns on June 22, 2013, the next day we are on the bikes and heading for Karumba. Distances vary from 94km on day 1 to 151 km by day 5.
The tour cost includes registration, a ride jersey, escort vehicles front and rear of each pack, drink station attendants, on-ride bike mechanics, 3 meals per day, nightly entertainment and camp ground fees. All riders must supply their own bike, tent, sleeping gear and basic spares.
Each year approximately 300 people make the trip from Cairns to Karumba (150 road riders, 50 mountain bike riders, 50 support crew and 50 volunteers).
This ride has been in operation for 16 years and has in that time raised in excess of $750 000 for school students who live in some of the remotest parts of Far North Queensland.
Come and join us on this wild adventure - nothing beats the Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride!
