Description
The Trans Colorado is the granddaddy of all of our domestic trips. This tour will take you through the heart of the Rocky Mountains from Fort Collins to Durango. This tour will take you over mountain passes and through valleys of wild flowers. The stunning views you will take in on this epic ride will more than make up for the pain in your legs or lungs. Each day of this journey will fill your eyes and mouths with stunning natural scenery and amazing brews. We have laid out a course that will take you along back roads and scenic byways with flexibility on the lengths of each day depending on you! At the end of this tour you will be a stronger rider than you started and be filled with a feeling of accomplishment for having ridden across through what has become know as Colorful Colorado for good reason.
Day 1
Bike fitting and short ride to acclimate to altitude.
Post ride beer tasting at great local brewery.
Day 2
Continue acclimating to altitude with a short local ride.
Ride will finish at a local brewery before our journey begins.
Day 3
Ride as much or as little as you want on the ride to Estes Park. A number of start points are available for the ride.
Day 4
This is a long scenic climb at high elevation. If a rider decides not to climb up but would like to ride down from the top of Trail Ridge Road to Grand Lake this can also be arranged.
Day 5
Compared to the previous day this ride will be calm with only a couple short climbs.
Lunch will be at the finish of the ride at a pub in Winter Park, Colorado.
Wine tasting will also be available in Fraser, Colorado along the way.
Day 6
Rest and play day in Winter Park Colorado
Day 7
After our first rest day we will meet for breakfast and prepare for our ride to Breckenridge, Co. Parts of this route are a on dirt road.
Day 8
Ride to Leadville, Colorado at 10,152 feet. Parts of this route will be on dirt road.
Day 9
Today’s ride is short but steep ride over Hoosier pass to Buena Vista, Colorado.
Day 10
Today we will ride up and over a seldom used pass to Crested Butte before our second rest day.
After the shower we will head over to the brewery for a relaxing beer or beers, as tomorrow is a rest day!
Day 11 - Rest Day
This day is free of plans and can be used however you desire. Meals are on your own today.
Day 12
This is the longest day in the saddle at just short of a century.
Day 13
Today we ride to Telluride, famous for amazing skiing, biking and bluegrass.
Day 14
Today is the shortest but also one of the steepest rides of trip.
We set out to historical Silverton, Colorado on the Million Dollar highway.
Day 15
The final day of riding will bring us from Silverton to Durango, CO on a mostly downhill course; there is a climb up the pass to leave Silverton.
Day 16
Part ways until our next adventure!
