Cycle through the Yucatan Peninsula from the jungle to the thatched roof villages of the contemporary Mayan World! Did the Mayans believe 2012 was the end of the world? Or perhaps the beginning of a new cycle, an era of newfound awareness. In any case, in this trip you will have the opportunity to marvel at and discover the archaeological sites of Tulum, Coba, Chichen Itza and Muyil! All these ancient cities have their own history and mysteries. Next to the Mayan villages and ruins you are able to observe the amazing Peninsula’s wildlife, such as different species of birds, mammals, etc, or simply enjoy the peninsula's water wonderland. There are many cenotes (fresh water holes) along your daily route. Explore the jungle of Mexico’s second largest national park, the 1.6 million-acre Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve or snorkel in the world’s second largest coral reef.

Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival at Cancun airport
Arrival in Cancun: Tour will be welcomed by your professional naturalist guide. Transfer to your hotel in Cancun’s hotel zone where you will get a briefing about the activities, our security and other important information. Afterwards dinner at your hotel. Overnight in Cancun
Day 2 Cancún – Isla Mujeres – Cancún. (20 miles)
Early breakfast. Enjoy biking to the small port to take a ferry to Isla Mujeres where we will cycle around enjoying great views of the Caribbean. We will take a boat trip to snorkel in the world’s second largest reef. Enjoy a delicious lunch buffet. Back in Cancun, we will be cycling back to your hotel. Special lecture on coral reefs.
Day 3 Tulum – Sian ka’an - Tulum (22 miles)
Early breakfast at your hotel. Van transfer to Tulum and visit of the amazing archaeological site which is overlooking the sea. It have been known by the name Zama, which means “City of Dawn” because it faces the sunrise; it is the only Mayan city that is located directly by the Caribbean Sea. Tulum may have served as a port city for the Maya site of Coba, as there is a sacbe road connecting the two. The Bike tour from Tulum to Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve where you will have the chance to kayak in the wetlands and learn about environmental technologies. Enjoy while having a lunch inside the reserve. Afterwards, we bike back to your beachfront hotel in the Tulum area. Where dinner will be taken. After dinner there will be a special Maya purification ritual.
Day 4 Tulum-Coba (40miles/64km)
Early breakfast at your hotel. Bike ride to Coba. On the way, stop to snorkel in the amazing crystal waters of the Grand Cenote. Lunch will be taken in the town of Coba. In the afternoon, visit Coba's famous archaeological site, which is believed as one of the largest Mayan cities of the Yucatan. Coba is also called “stirred by the wind”, because it is situated by four natural lakes. Dinner in Club Med. Rest stop at Grand Cenote and Lol Beh shopping store. Optional night hike to go see crocodiles in the Coba lagoon. Special lecture on Maya culture.
Day 5 Coba-Valladolid (38miles/61km)
Optional bird watching hike in Coba. Early breakfast. Bike ride from Coba to Valladolid, a colonial town. On the way we will pass several Mayan villages, where you can see their local traditions and culture. On the way you can also enjoy a stop to cool down in a cenote, an underground river with crystal clear waters. Finally, arrival at Valladolid to check-in at hotel Meson del Marques. In the afternoon city tour to see murals, the museum of Valladolid and its church. Valladolid is named after the capital of Spain at that time. After Campeche and Merida it was the third largest city of the Yucatan Peninsula.
Day 6 Valladolid-Chichen Itza (38 miles/61km)
After an early breakfast there will be a Bike ride from the colonial city of Valladolid to the most important archaeological site of the Mayan World, Chichén Itzá. It was once the capital of the ancient Mayan civilization and has recently been declared as one of the “seven modern wonders of the World”. We will explore the mysteries of the Mayan and visit the Temple of Kukulcan, known as el Castillo and visit the Astronomical Observatory. in at Club Med Chichen. Optional light and sound show in Chichén Itzá. Rest stop in Kauai Town (20 miles). Lecture on Chichen Itza and maya calendar, where we will talk more about the theory where the Mayans say that “2012 will be the end of the wold”..
Day 7 Xcaret-Puerto Morelos
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer to Xcaret, an ecological theme park. This park is famous for its water fun, its educational sections and its entertainment. Highlights are the park's two rivers (one with underground tunnels), the aviary, the butterfly and mushroom farms, the aquarium, the turtle breeding and releasing area and the outdoor entertainment. In between the different activities, have a midmorning or a late afternoon snack on your own at any of the park's various restaurants or snack stands. The evening entertainment is included in the admission. Furthermore we recommend enjoying the Mexican Fair that begins at 06:00 pm and the fabulous folkloric night show that begins at 07:00 pm at the amphitheatre of Xcaret.
Day 8 Departure
Coffee will be available in the lobby of your hotel as you check out. Transfer of to the Cancun international airport. Departure times are depending on the flights.
