    The coast of Maine offers amazing diversity as it travels almost 400 miles from Kittery to the Canadian border. During our 7 day inn-to-inn bike tour you will cycle the best of the Maine Coast. From thew quiet beauty of Pemaquid Point you will travel up the coast and finish with a victory lap through Acadia National Park. Every day you’ll be treated to wonderful cycling, great food, unique experiences, and the warmth of Maine hospitality. You’ll reach out-of-the-way places like Clark Island and Castine. You’ll see unusual reversing falls. You might meet the lobsterman who caught your lunch! Off-bike, explore famous towns like Blue Hill, Bar Harbor, and Camden. And we’ll introduce you to the world’s best blueberry muffin. Pedal the Coast is bound to be one of your most memorable bicycle tours.

    Pick Up / Drop Off

    Portland, ME (PWM)

    Day 1 – Boothbay Harbor to Pemaquid Point

    Leaders will collect you in Portland, ME on the 1st morning for the one hour transfer to Boothbay Harbor. We begin our trip cycling stunning Ocean Point before pedaling to the charming village of Damariscotta. We end our day at the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, where we enjoy a welcome wine and cheese reception before dinner at the elegant Bradley Inn.

    Day 2 – Pemaquid Point to Clark Island

    Today we visit historic Pemaquid Harbor where the English and the French fought for control of New England during the French and Indian Wars. Later we cycle to the “off the beaten track” town of Waldoboro for a glimpse of small town life in Maine before pedaling to Clark Island and our inn overlooking the ocean.

    Day 3 – Clark Island to Camden

    We begin our ride exploring the quiet peninsula of Spruce Point before cycling to Birch Point State Park and the spectacular Owls Head Light as it stands guard over Penobscot Bay. Our ride then takes us to the eclectic village of Rockland, home to the Farnsworth Museum of Art, which features an extensive collection of the art of the Wyeth Family, The Island Institute dedicated to preserving Maine’s Island communities, and a number of charming shops and galleries. We finish our day in the picturesque town of Camden where we enjoy a sunset sail on Penobscot Bay.

    Day 4 – Camden to Castine

    The rolling hills of Camden offer miles of riding on quiet country roads. We follow these roads though the summer community of Bayside and into the coastal town of Belfast and enjoy a picnic lunch before a short transfer. Our ride continues along the western shore of Penobscot Bay and into the town of Castine where a lobster feast awaits.

    Lodging: The Castine Inn or The Pentagoet Inn
    Day 5 – Castine to Blue Hill

    Our adventure continues as we explore the town of Castine, a historical gem that has flown the flag of four nations during its rich history. Our morning ride through town is a journey through pre-colonial American history. After exploring Castine, our ride continues along miles of quiet coastal roads. We cycle along Eggemoggin Reach and into the town of Blue Hill before a transfer to Bar Harbor. An optional non supported route will be offered for those who wish to cycle to Bar Harbor.

    Lodging: First of 2 Nights at The Harborside Hotel
    Day 6 – The Quiet Side of Acadia

    Today we cycle to the quiet side of Acadia National Park, winding through charming villages to the town of Bass Harbor and the famous Bass Harbor Light.

    Cycling Options: 62 miles
    Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
    Lodging: Final Night at The Harborside Hotel
    Day 7 – Cycling Acadia National Park

    We end a memorable week cycling Acadia National Park’s famous Park Loop Road. As it winds along the shore before we celebrate our week with the best blueberry muffins on the planet.
