Description
We invite you to join us and discover the mountains of northern Bohemia - Jizerské hory and Krkonoše (The Giant Mountains) - the highest mountains in Czech Republic. From Liberec, an important historical, economic and cultural centre of northern Bohemia, we climb to the Jizerské hory mountains. The tracks are through gentle undulating hills, which come as a pleasant surprise. This delightful route takes you all the way to the mountain resort of Harrachov, where you stay for the night.
The next day the terrain is more demanding with more hill-climbing. We begin the day with a seven-kilometer ascent rising through 400 meters. As a reward, you will get superb views of the Czech lowlands. During the day you can make a short detour to Labská bouda. This mountain chalet is only 950 meters from the source of River Elbe - one of the most important rivers in Europe. The River Elbe flows into the North Sea at Cuxhaven after 1154 kilometers. We spend the night in the very well-known mountain and winter-sports resort of Špindlerův Mlýn. We suggest prolonging your stay here. The resort stands in the middle of the Krkonoše National Park and offers many activities to enjoy.
We then ride to another mountain resort, Pec pod Sněžkou. On this ride we climb the highest and longest ascent of the tour, 610 meters, which takes you to an elevation of 1,357 meters above sea level. It is possible to take a short detour to the Luční Bouda mountain chalet (1,400m above sea level) and take in the spectacular panorama of the highest mountain in the Czech Republic, Sněžka (1.602m above sea level). Those who are in good physical condition can hike all the way to the summit.
From Pec pod Sněžkou we will transfer you to your hotel in Prague the next day (transfer and night in Prague included).
For nature lovers, we recommend prolonging the tour by cycling through Poland to Teplice nad Metují back in the Czech Republic. This town is the gateway into the renowned nature reserve of the Adršpach-Teplice Rock Towns. We will transfer you to your hotel in Prague the following day (transfer and night in Prague included).
This is the most demanding tour in our portfolio and is an enjoyable and challenging ride for all fans of mountain biking. Our suggested routes follow mainly paved car-free tracks. Longer demanding uphill stretches are compensated for with long descents and lower daily mileage. Consequently, this tour is also suitable for medium-fit cyclists, not only for hard bikers. For the keen and super-fit there are possibilities to extend some of the more challenging sections.
