Description
This is one of the more beautiful cycling tours in India. It takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the capital to the peace and tranquility of the Himalayan mountain range. The cycling route follows the Beas river and the bank is ideal for catching your breath.
The journey starts from the back roads of Himachal Pradesh and you’ll head towards Pragpur – India’s first heritage village. Since, you’ll be riding off-the-beaten track, you’ll experience short treks to the Oggernath Baba cave and the Fort ruins of Sola Singhi. The cave was a pleasant surprise. I remember looking up, and saying, “That’s odd, the Internet doesn’t mention anything about this…hence the exploration begins.” This is the way to see India! It is not only about visiting places that most tourists go to. Instead, it is about finding the “not-yet-on-the-tourist-route” attractions.
During this India cycling tour, you’ll also see mainstream attractions, such as the only rock cut temples in North India, the Kangra Fort, and as you approach Dharamshala – the Tibetan monasteries, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s residence, in McLoed Gunj. This tour can be performed on a bicycle only or car-bicycle combination. The tour is intended to take you into a world of peace and you will come back with a sense of achievement.
