Description
During this wonderful tour, the historical Flemish cities are central: Brussels, Mechelen, Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges. The daily guided bike tours will lead you through a variety of beautiful flat landscapes and along the river Schelde. You will also visit many picturesque small towns.
Your home base is the beautifully renovated small passengership Fiep. And the Fiep will follow you where ever you go. Every day you cover a distance of 30 to 50 kilometers by bike with an experienced guide and your floating hotel will be waiting for you at your destination. That doesn’t mean you have to get on a bike every day. You can always decide to go for a walk along the canal or relax in an easy chair on the sun deck.
The tour starts in Mechelen, with it’s magnificent Grote markt. Sunday you can visit Brussels, the beautiful capital of Europe. Take some time to wander around the old town that is worth seeing,having a look at the Gothic town hall, the beautiful guild houses, the big market and the “Männeken Pis”.
Then we spent the night in Antwerp, the city of Rubens, whose paintings you can see in the cathedral.
You bike from Antwerp to Ghent along the beautiful tidal river Nederschelde, in order to breathe in the atmosphere of the days of old in the town center, with its impressive Belfort and the St. Baafs-cathedral, where you can admire the famous triptych of painter Jan van Eyck. Final destination is Bruges, with its picturesque town center probably the most beautiful of the historical Flemish cities.
