Description
The coast of Helgeland in Northern Norway offers spectacular nature with towering mountain peaks, impressive ocean vistas and sheltered bays. There are thousands of islands, large and small, flat and round, long and narrow. By bike, you can travel all along the varied coast, around fjord indentations, across bridges and along the foot of majestic mountains. The nature here will simply take your breath away.
Every day you will have a spectacular view of famous mountain landmarks: The Seven Sister, Mount Dønnamannen and Torghatten (the mountain with a hole through it). The tour starts and ends in Brønnøysund, accessible by car, ferry or plane.
You visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed archepelago Vega. The myriad of islands is a unique, open cultural landscape of sea and land. The Vega archipelago reflects the way fishermen and farmers have, over the past 1500 years, maintained a vibrant community. No bike tour in this area is complete without bikes the beautful islands Herøy and Dønna. We have included a 2 hour RIB safari to learn more about local history. It is not uncommon to see sea eagles out here. You will also spend a night in authentic surroundings at the 200-year-old Tradepost Forvik.
The landscape along the coast of Helgeland is easy to cycle, with relatively low traffic. The daily stages is a mix of biking and ferry transport between the islands. Everyday you can choose between short and long day trips – precisely the alternative that suits you best. If you have questions or anything unforseen occurs, our tourleader is never far away. Your luggage is transported from hotel to hotel, and a hybird rental bike is included.
