Nature and Traditions

One day tour that combines riding in nature with visiting the Interethnic Museum of Hartibaci Valley and the Old Mill of Hosman.

Route : Daia – Rosia – Vurpar – Nocrich – Altana – Hosman – Daia

After a 20 minutes car transfer to Daia, we will start riding and pass through the village of Rosia, where we can visit the fortified church. From Rosia we’ll keep on riding to Vurpar on a quiet and green path, through fields worked by local villagers. To get to Nocrich we’ll climb one of these hills between the two villages. The reward for our efforts will consist in beautiful landscapes, flocks of sheep and dozens of different singing birds.

During the second part of the day we’ll ride on asphalt and our first stop will be at the Interethnic Museum of Hartibaci Valley in Altana. The local ethnographical collection has in excess of 1000 objects, amassed over the course of 12 years from 25 different settlements, from all over the Hartibaci Valley. It brilliantly succeeds at bringing together the most relevant cultural assets of Romanian, Hungarian, Saxons and Roma ethnic groups. This impressive collection grows constantly thanks to donations and acquisitions and it includes everything from traditional costumes and furniture to ceramics, religious objects and folk technique.

On our way back to Daia we’ll stop again in Hosman and visit the Old Mill from the village. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and has been operational ever since, turning into a landmark for the village of Hosman. The complex includes a mill, a forgery, a bakery, a local products store and a cultural shed and each summer it welcomes young visitors with a stunning garden and delicious pies.
