Cycle through Bordeaux’s most prestigious vineyards

This prestige cycle tour is for those who appreciate Bordeaux’s supremacy as the wine cellar of France. The route takes you through some of the most famous towns such as Pauillac, St Emilion and Margaux with a chance to taste wines. Your stay is in luxury hotels and includes two Michelin starred menus.

You can choose to begin this holiday on Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.

Day 1 Arrive Bordeaux

On arrival you will be transferred to Château Cordeillan-Bages in Pauillac, home of 3 of the 5 first Grands Crus Classes and 15 Crus Classe Médoc. Enjoy some relaxation time before dinner in the hotel’s restaurant. Half board

Day 2 La Route des Grands Crus (27 miles)

Leave Pauillac and cycle towards Margaux, travelling through Saint-Julien and Moulis en route. Pass the famous Laffite Rothschild, Latour and Mouton Rothschild vineyards. Tonight you dine and stay in Château Marojalia, a private château. Half board

Day 3 Margaux to Bourg-sur-Gironde (26-32 miles)

Cycle to Lamarque and cross the Gironde Estuary by ferry, arriving in magnificent Blaye to continue your journey along the banks of the estuary. Pass through extensive vineyards and along the ‘Corniche Fleurie’ towards Bourg, an architectural jewel clinging to a rock and one of the most beautiful villages in the area. Stay the night in Château Julie, Virsac, with dinner included. Half board

Day 4 Bourg-sur-Gironde to Saint Emilion (24 miles)

Cycle to Saint Emilion, past Fronsac and Pomerol on a circuit that leads you into the heart of the best wine territory of the area. Discover the beautiful homes of the growers and their families, often situated in the vineyards themselves. Tonight’s accommodation is Hostellerie de Plaisance in Saint Emilion. Half board

Day 5 Cycle around Saint Emilion (12-21 miles)

This circuit takes you around the eastern part of the Saint Emilion vineyards and villages. Cycle through estates and remarkable scenery to Castillon la Bataille before reaching the banks of the Dordogne River. Enjoy a second night in Saint Emilion. Half board

Day 6 St Emilion to Bordeaux (32 miles)

Today head through Branne and onto the ‘Roger Lapébie’ bike path. Enjoy an idyllic journey through medieval towns, past country houses, and Roman churches – a perfect way to explore the region’s rich architectural heritage. Arrive in the majestic Place de la Bourse in Bordeaux and finish your holiday in the 5-star Regent Grand Hotel. B&B
